The Walking Liberty Half Dollar is a 90% silver half dollar that was issued by the United States Mint from 1916 to 1947. It was designed by Adolph A. Weinman, a well-known sculptor and engraver, to replace the Barber coin designs that had been in use for 25 years. It is often considered to be one of the most beautiful modern coin designs and has been a favorite of the public for years.
Five denominations of US coins received new designs between 1907 and 1919 as part of a drive to beautify the coinage. It is an iconic 20th century US coin design and has remained extremely popular among collectors to this day!
