    Description

For auction is a booklet entitled the "Central Burma". Japan occupied much of Burma, which lies strategically between India and China, blocking the Allies from supplying Nationalist China, which was fighting Japan. Japan invaded Burma just after Pearl Harbor, and the US had only a small military contingent to protect this nation and the vital "Burma Road". In 1945, near the end of the war, some of the most brutal fighting occurred in Burma. The Japanese were executing a "fighting retreat", and Allied forces pressed eastward towards China. The "Burma Road" ultimately was secured, allowing the free movement of supplies to China. This publication has some great military maps, to include Burma in 1945, the Allied advances to secure the Burma Road, and a full map of the Burma Campaign in 1945.
