    Description

Offered for auction here is the booklet entitled "Central Pacific". The battle for the Central Pacific began effectively with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 and covered primarily the area called Micronesia, a collection of islands scattered throughout the Pacific over an area larger than the continental United States. It included the island groups of the Marshalls, the Marianas, the Palua, the Gilberts, and the Carolines. This booklet describes the Japanese assaults on various strategic islands to establish defensive positions and US defensive and offensive efforts in this region, from the date of the Pearl Harbor bombing into December 1943.
