Description
Offered for auction here is the booklet entitled "Po Valley". Located in Northern Italy, the Po Valley was a strategic flatland south of the Alps and north of the Apennines Mountains, the last line of defense for the Axis forces in Italy. Allied armies had invaded Italy in September 1943 and had methodically worked their way north. The Germans were forced to remove a large portion of their military to Northern France to counter the Allied invasion at Normandy, which was pushing ever closer to Germany; while remaining German forces in Italy fought stubbornly, they did not have the numbers of equipment to effectively combat US, British and Canadian armies. Germany anchored its defensive line north of the Po River.US Army Campaigns of World War II - Po Valley Italy

to its troops, tens of thousands of which were captured. This booklet contains some
great maps, to include the breakthrough routes into the Po Valley, as well as the entire Spring 1945 offensive in the region.
