I’m not sure if this is manufactured or a well made in a home shop? There are no markings or logos. Only a guess, but possibly from the 1950s to 1960s era. Maybe early 1970’s, but not later due to the aged wood patina and use of straight slot screws instead of Phillips head. There are two large flat straight slot steel screws with well-fitting washers holding the handle in place.
All wood block with hardwood handle. 10 inches long by 7 inches wide by 1.75 inches thick.
The sanding block appears to be a nice hardwood top and bottom veneer about 0.125 thick - sandwiched with glued-up thick center section of possibly pine? There are noticeable long cracks, short cracks, scratches, chips, dents, wood chunks missing, and many nail holes on all sides. See pictures. Even with all the visible damage, this is still in high working order.
It will hold your choice of any grit full sheet sand paper. I am leaving the original piece of torn up sandpaper so you can use it as a future template. It looks like you cut off all four corners of a brand-new piece of sandpaper and wrap & nail it directly onto the sides of the wood block. 1 or 2 large head upholstery tacks on each side, will hold the paper in place. The large smooth wood handle is comfortable to hold.
