vintage Simonsen Chicago  cantilever gable toolbox
no mfg plate, probably had decal when new
No dents, inner boxes have lids, all work
1940's design, shell and latches and hinges made of stamped metal and riveted together
metal straps on the bottom show some surface rust box floor and interior is good,
box swings and closes well and can see and feel a little play and springiness but this may be due to floating design of the hinges and latches, nothing seems to bind.
some later brown paint on side panel
w black spraypaint
for number stencils "340"  and bird figure, could be USAF unit/wing ???
hasp of hinged locking center latch is missing. welded bit still on there. see first pic
solid box, and is pretty heavy
weight is ~20lb
